Dr. Stanley Prusiner, Director of the Institute of Neurodegenerative Diseases at UC San Francisco, helped identify and discover prions. The Memory and Aging Center collaborates with the IND to understand prion diseases and, ultimately, find cures to them and other causes of dementia.
