Primitive skills require a deep understanding of the natural world to successfully hunt and gather food in the wild. Knowing where to look for food is just as important as having the tools to get the job done. But sometimes our complex human minds can complicate a task when the only tool needed is a long slender stick.
Stingrays are found in shallow sandy waters of tropical and subtropical seas around the world. They have sharp venomous spines on their tails that can inflict a very painful sting when they are threatened. Each year thousands of beach-goers get stung by stingrays. The stingray shuffle is an effective technique of scooting or shuffling one's feet on the bottom to avoid stepping on top of a stingray. This way the stingray detects the approaching human and then swims away.
