While it may be October, the winter season will be here before we know it. PennDOT, PEMA and the #PATurnpike held an event to outline the commonwealth’s plans to prepare for the season.

The PA Turnpike is prepared to battle the elements with 380 trucks, plows, and salt spreaders, and 400 licensed equipment operators ready to activate 24/7 staffing this fall.

Travel information for nearly 40,000 state-maintained roadway miles can be found at www.511PA.com. Available 24 hours a day, 511PA provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 950 traffic cameras. During the winter, you can find plow truck locations and details of when state-maintained roadways were last plowed.
