Preview of "The School's Inside Stories: Academy of the Sacred Heart with Wilda Richard". In this installment of oral histories for NCPTT's Documentation of Slave Cabin and Tenant Farming Houses Project, we visited the Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau, Louisiana. Here we sat with Wild Richard, one of only 5 custodians at this site. As someone who knows that ins and outs at Sacred Heart after 50+ years of employment, Richard tells us of the many years she has spent working here as well as the roots her mother in law had as she tended to the laundry before her time. We get a personal insight to some of the nuns and the way the boarding school ran. She also goes on to tell us about the former residents of the slave quarters as they were renovated into living spaces for those that cared for the site.
