For the Fisker Ocean, there is an issue with the door handle sticking. That can be fixed, but there remains a rare scenario that can lead to entrapment in the car, being unable to get out if the 12V fails at the same time as locking the car. Here we look at the Gen2a door handles and compare to the Gen1s. Looking at the internals and discussing the other changes.
We then mimic that entrapment scenario by testing the car that has a mixture of Gen1 and Gen2A handles, by removing one of the handle fuses. It shows the Gen1 making the internal handle inoperative while the Gen2A handle allows exit. Gen2a removes that entrapment risk.

Note: there is also the door latch design issue that if the interior handle is pulled out and kept out before an unlock then this prevents the opening of the door. It needs to be released then lock-unlock and then pulled again to get out. This is a similar situation and cause as when the exterior handle is stuck out. The problem is caused by the door latch design not the handle unit.
