Was I influenced by Wilier's 120th Birthday Party in Italy? Maybe a little. But as a mechanic, I still have some honest truths to share about the Wilier Rave SLR.
In this video, we are taking a close look at a very special, limited-edition (1 of 250) Wilier Rave SLR ID2 that we brought back from our trip to Italy. On paper, this is an unashamedly fast, flat-out aero gravel race bike. But racy is fine—it still needs to be fun to ride.
I’m giving you the full Mapdec rundown on this machine. We’ll look at the incredible 50mm+ tire clearance, frame weight, and aero features, but I’ll also give you my unfiltered mechanic's verdict on Wilier's engineering choices, including the PF41 bottom bracket and skinny headset bearings. Ultimately, does this aggressive race bike actually deliver a comfortable, confidence-inspiring ride out on the gravel?
