*We’re pouring a new foundation in a historic African American cemetery—this one for the headstone of Rev. Barry Broom. The cemetery had been severely neglected for years, but it’s now undergoing preservation work.
I’ve been helping save what we can—especially the marked graves. African American cemeteries are often the most at risk for neglect or destruction, due to limited or missing grave markers. That’s why preserving what’s still here is so important.*
