A short testdrive of the new pre-amp I got for the archtop guitar I made. It took a while before it was finished, but I believe it was worth the wait.
My guitar has a single coil Häussel pickup, and an internal microphone. With a mono cable, you only get the sound from the pickup. In the clip with my second attempt at "Struttin'" I played with the pickup through my Fender Blues Junior amp, which sounded OK (I thought).
But if I take a stereo cable and plug it into this new pre-amp, I get two separate signals. These can then be mixed, either in the pre-amp itself, or sent to two separate amps.

This is a walking bass jazzy bluesy rhythm bit, four times in a row.
First directly into the pc, using only the sound from the pickup. The second time, I mixed the microphone into the signal.
Number three is the pickup again, this time with the Blues Junior amp, so the same as the Struttin' clip. And in the final run, I added the microphone signal, over my new Schertler David acoustic amp.

I'm not very good at describing amplified guitar sounds, but I definitely think it's an improvement. I get the impression the sound "opens up" somehow.
These samples probably don't give a complete picture, I need to experiment more with all the options, but it's a start...

EDIT: I just noticed the audio is a bit messy. Skips in places, strange ticks, but I hope you get the idea.
