Pool's final design mostly stayed true to the original. We see both hot tubs were different and some differences in height for the high-jump at the start. Likewise the ending was changed to have the end pad inside the level rather than outside.
Gym's original design is widely different to today:
- Bouncy Floor used to be a bumper section, with the gems more spread out (good luck screenshot glitching all 5 gems in one go, plebs)
- There was no ramp with super speed at the start for a gem
- Therefore there were only two gems at the pit at the start, but there was a super speed on the other side!
- The pit's ramp at the bottom didn't have a pass-through way behind it (just a solid wall)
- The ramp to the two gems wasn't smoothed out like today
- The jump to the two gems next to the ice was actually really hard, and needed proper positioning, as shown in this video
- No checkpoints with nukes/fan/gem challenge
- MBG default tubes woooooooooo!!
- No gravity wall challenge
- There were tubes instead in that part, with a fan leading to a gem squeezed where the tubes intersected
- The finish had a slope to go up to a "floating" platform, unlike today where it's on a proper structure.
- A 5 seconds Time Travel hid behind the carpet wall-slope (today it's solid wall)
My best time, back then, was 1:32.44, so Technostick beat me ever so slightly :(

Enjoy!

![[TAS] Marble Blast Gold - Intermediate Levels by DomTurchi in 3:16.279
An incredible Tool Assisted compilation by DomTurchi (an actual professional), who hails us with years of experience from Zelda: A Link to the Past as a theory TASer, as well as the creator of Marble Blast Golds Beginner levels TAS.
For the uninitiated, Tool Assisted Superplays are played frame by frame, with runners usually rewinding to previous points in the game to optimize their movements, or force the game RNG in their favor. As Marble Blast does not have any kind of rewind inbuilt, custom scripting tools were built by HiGuy from the ground up in order to execute frame perfect camera & marble inputs, followed by a conversion to the games internal .rec format to replay the script.
DomTurchi blasts his way through all 24 intermediate levels using some new routes alongside familiar ones, and adds much more to the plate than you might have expected.
Special Thanks:
IsraeliRD, HiGuy, Xelna, HappyTreeX1, Cobalt, Mazik, Blasted, Nockess, DKman00 & Anson.
Videos recorded and edited by IsraeliRD.
Additional TAS information:
- While all recordings will play in a vanilla Marble Blast Gold, all of these were recorded on the community used Framerate Unlocker modification by Derpking (which lets the game run at 1000fps), and I (Matan) created for this TAS a small mod to the game to show the games third decimal place.
- Minimum allowed FPS is 30 and used in Space Slide. This is a community accepted minimum.
- All techniques (except banned glitches such as Screenshot Glitch) that are used can be found at: https://marbleblast.com/index.php/forum/general-mb-discussion/7818-advanced-techniques-in-marble-blast
- You can find Doms comments & .rec files to download at: https://marbleblast.com/index.php/forum/general-mb-discussion/10705-dom-s-scripted-tases
