Frank Stephenson. A name you will have heard of multiple times over the last three decades in the automotive industry. Affiliated with cars like the Ferrari F430, Maserati MC12, McLaren 675LT, 570s & 720s, Stephenson is a pioneer in car design and has a long list of automotive accolades.
Pair this incredible visionary with another, Praga. Born in 1907 in Czechoslovakia, Praga was founded with a view to becoming a name to remember and the brand quickly became one of Central Europe’s biggest automotive engineering firms as it developed. Hundreds of thousands of automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, airplanes, military & agricultural machinery was created before the brand got to where it is now.
Fast forward to 2017 and Praga first raced the ‘R1’ hunting down success in the Britcar championship. In 2020 they secured the top spot with 7 wins from 9 races. For the 2021 season, legendary Frank Stephenson Design was commissioned to create a bespoke livery for the R1 race car and the car you are looking at is the result. A true ‘1 of 1’ car like nothing else available. We are incredibly proud to offer this car for sale, and it’s technical specification is below.
The Praga R1 puts driver safety first, featuring a full Carbon Monocoque, utilizing a blend of composite materials such as Zylon and an Aluminium Weave, for increased strength and rigidity. With this increased strength, the car can withstand up to one tonne of weight being placed on the car's roof.
Aerodynamics plays a massive role in the R1's success on the track. The car features a re-designed underfloor and increased spoiler size, enabling the car to take corners at up to 3G.
Endurance racing is the R1's main focus, so it features a DuPont, Kevlar, 92 litre fuel tank, allowing for 90 minutes of racing. The R1 also features 3D printed, carbon fibre, nylon composite LED endurance headlights.
The R1 cockpit has been re-designed to better suit the driver, featuring a new and improved driver interface, being simpler and more accessible to use. Adjustable pedals, that can be adjusted at any time by the driver. Turbo mapping can now be changed and adjusted on the fly, with it now being included on the driver's wheel.
Engine: 2.0 litre, 4 Cylinder, 16 Valve, Renault Alpine F3 engine, with Praga Turbo System, producing 365hp at 6500rpm
Gearbox: A custom made HEWLAND JFR - six-speed sequential semi- automatic trans-axle gearbox with interchangeable gear sets, along with pneumatic paddle-shift system with flat shifts and KMP auto blip.
Torque: 395nm
Dry Weight: 643kg
Top Speed: Capable of 160+mph
Power to Weight Ratio: 0.57bph per kg
Braking system: 280mm, 4 pistons, AP Racing brakes
