Unless you've intentionally migrated to all-IPv6, you're operating in a dual-stack environment. And if you haven't accounted for v6 in your monitoring and security, you leave yourself open to risks. Today we dig into some of those risks, including VPN breakouts and how attackers can use unmanaged v6 to bypass security tools.
Our guest is Ed Horley, aka the Crazy IPv6 Dude. Ed is co-founder of the consultancy HexaBuild and co-host of the IPv6 Buzz podcast right here on the Packet Pushers network.
Ed also explains the Happy Eyeballs protocol, why you shouldn't block ICMPv6 by default (but how to restrict it appropriately), IPv6 and MTU sizing, risks of the Neighbor Discovery Protocol, and more.
See the links below for free IPv6 tools available from HexaBuild, IETF documents related to today's topics, and our previous episodes on IPv6 security.

Most IT teams are managing networks stitched together from years of acquisitions and vendor contracts and nobody's accountable when something breaks. Meter delivers the complete network: hardware, software, and services delivered as a predictable subscription. Upgrade credits, a fully managed install and deployment, and 24/7 support make the transition easy. Companies like Lyft, Mr. Beast, and Bridgewater have already made the switch.
