Common Mistake #2: Going to the ends of the internet to find specific manufacturer's families for equipment.
Solution #1: Appropriate modeling. Know what you're doing and why you're doing it.

This isn't a follow-along tutorial, this is more of a show n tell presentation on the topic of **intentional modeling,*** by showing how I would lay out an early design mechanical room.

After an unexpectedly positive experience kicking the tires on Revit recently, I've decided to start making more Revit, BIM, and EngVis content. It doesn't make sense to mix that in with the postconsumer praxis stuff, so I'm making another channel for all things offgrid, autonomy, frugality, anticonsumerism, permaculture, etc.

Regarding PV Cell Efficiency at High Temperatures, Nicholas Simmons from Naked Energy has this to say: "PV cells regularly get to very high temperatures. If you return to your car on a hot summers day you know how hot it can be. A conventional PV module traps the cells behind glass and lets them bake in the sun. When a solar panel is made the temperatures used in the lamination process go up to something like 150C. As mentioned the efficiency of a solar cell drops off as temperature rises - this is known as the temperature coefficient and is published on the data sheets that go with PV modules. A conventional solar module has no way of losing heat other than through convection, but at the height of summer with no breeze and high ambient temperatures there is very little cooling going on. There is a lot of academic research out there discussing this. The virtuPVT heat exchanger as described in the video is constantly taking heat away to be used for other heating / hot water / process heat. Consequently a virtuPVT collector can actually be cooler than a normal PV module under the same circumstances.

It's hard to look our future in the face. Most people can't do it for more than a moment or two.
The human psyche can't take staring sublime horror dead in the eyes without flinching for years.
I certainly can't.
I go through waves of looking it in the face, and then flinching into various forms of cognitive coping mechanisms. You know:
"There's nothing I can do about it - I'm just one person."
"I work in sustainability - I'm doing my part."
"Cold fusion, brah!"
"The Global Awakening will transform human consciousness and we'll all get, like, woke."
"Wind and solar will enable us to have prosperity *and* save the planet!"
"Green growth!"
It's all a spectrum of denial. Climate denial isn't something that only some Republicans and oil-industry-sponsored think tanks indulge in. That's the easiest kind to spot, but the kind of subtle denial rampant within progressive circles is perhaps even more dangerous, more potentially destructive.
The kind of denial that I indulge in, that my friends and colleagues who are in the business of addressing climate change indulge in, is more destructive because we can't safely admit it to ourselves, and so we've cut off an important feedback loop.
The idea that we're in denial is deeply shameful to us, and the idea that all our work is just pissing into the wind of inevitable catastrophe threatens the very cores of our personal identities.
The idea that we're wrong, that what we've sacrificed so much of our personal and professional lives for is a dead fucking end, is horrific. It fills us with a deep, sublime, yawning chasm of horror that we can't face for more than an instant.
It feels like to fall into that chasm would be the end.
It is not the end.
You can't go around it.
But you can go through it.
There is life on the other side.
But you have to face it, and feel it, all of it, first.

The chop job on the concrete material is my error, not some eevee glitch.
This one I was practicing the process of animating a Revit model. Process is:
Arrange 3d views in Revit
Export each view to FBX.
Import each FBX into a separate Collection (doors, floors, walls, windows, CHW pipes, etc)
Then shading, lighting, camera animation, etc.

Please share any other methods you have for sloped pipe modeling - or questions and frustrations I haven't addressed yet.

**UPDATE** We are not longer using this system for Revit 2017 on, since the text formatting now doesn't suck. The learning curve and potential for user error associated with this method isn't worth it now that we can use good 'ol dumb text in a list and it will format nicely.
This risk/benefit analysis makes sense in our office and user dynamics circumstance, it might not in yours. Cheers.
