Sandia’s blast tube simulates high-energy conditions to test reentry vehicles and other systems, delivering critical data that addresses complex national security challenges.

Researchers completed 10 tests using different setups and charge weights to fully activate the 300-foot blast tube and expand the Labs’ testing prowess.
“We’re supporting more complex environments and providing modelers and systems teams with critical information they didn’t have access to before,” said Sandia test engineer Mike Teague.
