More hot German 6P action!
Took a much riskier build than usual because of 18 & 21 showing up so early. Normally i'd build one of the "twins" in blue + Mannheim, but taking both twins would give me the edge in bidding for 21 & powering 2 cities that turn. Turns out that's exactly what happened, though Daroj also got a sweet deal with the 15 for $16; i couldn't power 3 cities that turn with 15, so 21 was far more valuable to me.
Though others crowded my builds in a hurry, i barely managed to carve out 4 cities in Step 1 and even get a foothold in the cheapest part of the map. Paid off huge in Step 2!
However, the clear star of this show was Morph. They landed the 28 at cost after a couple other players had to buy lesser plants in desperation, and then got the 32 very cheap when they didn't need to use it yet. Lots of cheap cities early on, too. 6-4 as your top two plants is fantastic for a 6P game since you only need another efficient 4-cap to reach the endgame number!
Even though i got the 20 for barely above cost and coal stayed cheap, Morph was still the clear leader once they got the 29. The endgame was rather tricky, as i opted to pass on 30 & 31 in favor of hoping that somebody else built Plant 12 out of the game (giving us the Step 3 auction). Think i would've been in a great position to win had that happened, but nobody built that high and the stall gave the game to Morph. Had i known nobody would build, i would've bid more for the 30! These 6P endgames can be frustrating sometimes...
