We can use an internal 2,5'' HDD as external, but using SATA and feeding it with a USB cable instead a power supply. I.e. we can edit a complex video project (Premiere, Final Cut Pro, etc.) in different computers without copying it to the local hard disk. If the HDD were a 2,5'' USB one, we couldnt edit with it, because USB is very slow compared to SATA.
