New stories from across the region continue on Postcards Thursday, March 26 on the @PostcardsOnPioneerPBS YouTube channel. This fourth episode features a farm near Alexandria, Minnesota, where Kathy and Terry Sletto stay connected to a long family heritage of wool production through their collection of sheep, rabbits and guard llamas.
For Kathy and Terry Sletto, farming is as much a passion and connection to family heritage as it is a business, whether that means making hot-dish for the sheep shearer, knitting through cold winter nights or spinning wool on an 1860s spinning wheel handmade by Kathy’s Norwegian great-great-grandfather.
With a flock of Shetland sheep, a herd of rabbits, a few guard llamas and numerous cats, Shepherd’s Bay Farm is full of animals with unique personalities and stories, a few of which Kathy shares.
Postcards is an award-winning series showcasing the arts, history, and cultural heritage of western Minnesota and beyond. Funding for Postcards comes from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
