The 17th season of Postcards premieres on Thursday, March 5 at noon on the @PostcardsOnPioneerPBS YouTube channel and new episodes drop weekly on Thursdays afterwards. The season opener features an illustrator, a community-driven food co-op and a dedicated volunteer organization — three stories that highlight the creativity, collaboration and commitment shaping life in our towns.
Catarina Orellana of Willmar is an illustrator and digital artist whose passion for drawing began in childhood. After her work gained widespread attention on Instagram, she launched her professional career with a commissioned book cover for author Nelsyn Carlson. Since then, Orellana has collaborated with independent authors and major publishing houses including Penguin Random House and HarperCollins, building a specialty in richly detailed illustrated character portraits.
In New London, the New London Food Co-op serves as a community-owned grocery store under the management of Jessica Rohloff. After 15 years without a local grocery option, the co-op provides residents with an alternative to large chain retailers, offering high-quality, responsibly sourced products from local farmers and producers while strengthening the region’s food economy.
Help Tuck Them In, based in Tracy, Minnesota, is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to building and delivering beds for children in need. To date, the group has provided more than 360 beds and cribs, along with bedding, stuffed animals and additional support for families facing poverty, abuse and emergency situations.
Postcards is an award-winning series showcasing the arts, history, and cultural heritage of western Minnesota and beyond. Funding for Postcards comes from the Minnesota Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
