The University of Maryland (UMD) requested assistance from the Maryland State Police on Monday, preparing for possible political unrest during demonstrations in and around the campus. Pro-Palestinian students plan to hold an event on Oct. 7— a year since Hamas attacked Israel, leaving 1,200 dead and taking around 250 hostages.
