During a recent trip to Portmeirion in North Wales, I shot some video and time lapse clips to scrunch up into this short dash around parts of the village. Portmeirion village takes on a whole different character when it gets dark so I've included footage shot both in the day and at night. There's a definite nod to the Prisoner television series in the opening and even in the choice of the self penned music track.
The village of Portmeirion was created in North Wales by Clough Williams-Ellis between 1925 and 1976. Many of the buildings are hotel accommodation or self catering cottages, plus shops and restaurants.
The village has a mystical feel, things aren't always quite as they seem - many of the buildings look far bigger than they actually are partly due to the use of small, narrow windows and trompe l'oeil features to give the viewer a false sense of scale.
Famous for the filming of The Prisoner TV series in the 1960s (with a little nod to that in this video).
