Larch Mountain is a scenic mountain about one hour outside Portland, Oregon. While the view from the top is very nice and showcases the diversity of Oregon's volcanic landscapes, the geology is interesting as well. It is a small shield volcano, one of the three types of volcanoes, which is NOT one of the main Cascades Volcanoes but instead part of the Boring Volcanic Field, Portland's own urban volcano field.
