This route skips having to press the button, waiting for a cube, and some dialogue. I use a glitch called button save glitch where you save just in the right time when you step off the button, then load, and if you got lucky the button for some reason stays activated, no cube needed.
Although segmented, I managed to get BSG to work on my second try here.
