Port mirroring, also known as SPAN (Switched Port Analyzer) on Cisco devices, is a network feature that copies traffic from one or multiple switch ports to another port. This is commonly used for network monitoring, troubleshooting, and security analysis. Those captured packets, as part of a packet capture file, can then be viewed with a protocol analyzer, such as Wireshark.
