At that time, Zuffenhausen race car began, many customer have been continuing to attend this races also today, so they become pilots during weekends. Also in the 80s and in the early 90s, Porsche presented two different way of thought, from one side one relying on back engine, that is 911 models and the other ones which wanted to develop front motor, as 928 GTS, based on the success of the previous model sales. At the end the back engine confirmed its supremacy, and there was a relaunch of the 933 serie with back pull.

In quel periodo iniziarono le gare riservate alle auto della casa di Zuffenhausen, a cui partecipano ancor oggi molti clienti, che nei week-end diventano piloti. Anche negli anni ottanta e nei primi anni novanta all'interno della porsche si confrontarono due filosofie di prodotto, una fedele al motore posteriore, cioè ai modelli 911 e l'altra che voleva sviluppare auto a motore anteriore, come la 928 gts, sulla base dei successi di vendita dei modelli precedenti. Alla fine però prevarrà la linea basata sul motore posteriore, con un rilancio della gamma con la serie 993 a trazione posteriore.
