In August 2023, Porsche revealed the 911 S/T to celebrate the model’s 60th anniversary. Referencing the 911’s birth year, 1,963 cars were built.
Its name is taken from the classic Porsche 911 S/T, a competition package for the 911 sold from 1969 to 1972. Based on the 911 GT3 Touring, it boasts the engine from the GT3 RS, uniquely combined with a driver-focused manual gearbox. This is the first time the 992-generation GT3 RS engine has been available with a manual, and the six-speed transmission has been given shorter ratios than the 911 GT3 by around 8%.
The 911 S/T's naturally aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six revs to 9,000rpm and produces 518hp (15hp more than the GT3) and 343lb-ft of torque with assistance from altered cams and a revised cylinder head design. Power is delivered to the rear wheels with the help of a tweaked differential, an S/T-exclusive single-mass flywheel and a lightweight clutch, which is around half the weight of the clutch on a standard GT3 Touring. As the lightest car in the 992-generation line up with a dry weight of just 1,270kg, it can accelerate to 62mph in 3.7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 186mph.
The rear-wheel steering system has been removed, saving 7kg, which allows a lighter battery to be installed. It boasts a 38kg total weight saving over a manual GT3 Touring, achieved via the use of thinner glass and carbon fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) in the roof skin, doors, front wings and rear anti-roll bar.
The Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system has been revised and the S/T rides on the GT3 RS Weissach Pack-style magnesium 20 and 21-inch centre-locking alloy wheels, framing Porsche Carbon Ceramic Brakes (PCCM) as standard. Due to the lack of RS-style radiator, there is space for a luggage compartment in the front.
