Pope Leo XIV offered two lessons from St. Peter for those moments when God’s ways are difficult to understand.

Speaking at the Angelus in Castel Gandolfo, the Pope acknowledged the temptation “to think that the Lord is the one who is wrong, or worse still, that he is not listening to us or is not concerned about us.”

Peter, he said, teaches us first “never to cease our dialogue with the Lord,” but to tell him confidently when we struggle to understand what he asks of us. Second, we should “never judge God’s work,” but “humbly and prayerfully” listen to what he is revealing through his actions, “even when they do not meet our expectations.”
