Wowee!! Built for kids with parents in mind, Pop2Play are awesome full scale playable sculptures that encourage imaginative play without ANY mess. We loved that these toys make things easier on parents, but we were even more impressed by how fun these big, playable objects were for kids.
One of the biggest things we think about when evaluating whether a toy will be loved and adopted by kids is engagement. If kids are able to "get into" a toy and expand on the ways that can they play with the toy, it's a sure sign of imagination-fueled high engagement.
The Wowee Pop2Play objects are also a lot like theater set pieces. As production people, many of us were reminded of early theater, and immersive puppetry. Both are super important for early childhood development.
"Puppetry activities in teaching are proven to enhance communication, increase engagement, and change children's attitudes. Findings also show that puppetry activities can help children's cognitive, emotional, and social development."
There's something very basically good about imagination, as humans, it may even be one of our best qualities. Children have more active imaginations than adults because they are less constrained by their own prior patterns of thought. These imaginations thrive when they are treated with respect and given the space to expand and grow. We love the expansive possibilities of Pop2Play and can't wait to see how kids and parents respond.
