I wanna take this chance to rant a little about Gothel tho: imo she really is THE worst/best Disney villain because she actually convinced Rapunzel that she was her mother for 18 years...she gained her trust and love all the while treating her like this. So I imagine Rapunzel would have to develop very good self-soothing abilities in order to cope with all of the psychological abuse.
It's different than any other villain scenario because she not only got Rapunzel to love her, but she convinced her to believe that she really loved her back...which I know is a topic for controversy but let me just say: GOTHEL NEVER LOVED RAPUNZEL.
