First video I finished in the span of a week after starting it for like, forever.
Callisto is a fun character I made in 2023, he’s a hybrid of basically every reptile and a few mammals put together, I pretty much designed him to be my standard lab rat trope but, without the trauma…? It’s confusing and I’m stoned out of my mind.
Ever since I was young I identified with the experiment trope and regularly daydreamed about being a fucked up test tube baby to escape my horrific childhood, originally starting with the original Mewtwo Strikes Back movie, and it contributed to Mewtwo being my favourite Pokemon to this day.
Callisto is a representation of the innocence I had back then and the coping mechanisms I have now.
Huge lore warning- it’s LONG.
He was made to be a being able to safely patrol and potentially fix a dying earth that had gone to shit because of a fucked up living meteor crashing into Siberia. That meteor caused an almost last of us/annihilation type of zombie infection to wreak havoc the surrounding environment, quickly spreading to the rest of the planet.
Callisto actually had his pain receptors heavily altered so that he can still feel a wound, but instead of pain comes a numb tingling sensation. And he can regenerate from a single cell in 25 minutes tops.
the eyefish in the video are a mutated species of tropical fish (implied to be blue-tangs but it’s left ambiguous) altered by a non-contagious strain of the infection, and any species of animal infected with this particular strain are usually picked up by Nexus, the coalition of scientists responsible for making Callisto, and get put into a big terrarium in the mane HQ (coincidentally where Callisto spends most of his time.)
The animatic itself is about Callisto in this terrarium taking a dive in the aquatic section and getting hypnotized by one of these fish (because they can do that now, that’s normal) resulting in him tripping balls in a 25 foot deep man-made tropical cove. That’s it, it’s about a big, artificial lizard randomly experiencing an LSD trip because of a zombified school of mutated fish.
