Is it time for Portsmouth FC and John Mousinho to have a serious conversation about Colby Bishop?
Colby Bishop has become one of the most divisive players at Pompey. Some Portsmouth fans see him as an important part of the team — a hard-working striker who holds the ball up, brings teammates into play, leads from the front and gives everything for the shirt.
But others are asking a very different question…
Is Bishop’s contribution enough for a Championship striker?
With his goalscoring record under increasing scrutiny, Bishop’s place in the starting XI is becoming a major talking point among Pompey fans. He appears to be one of John Mousinho’s most trusted players, regularly playing 90 minutes and wearing the captain’s armband.
So why is he seemingly undroppable?
In this video, I take a deep dive into the Colby Bishop debate, including his goalscoring record, his performances, his strengths, his weaknesses and the argument that Portsmouth’s tactical setup may not be helping him.
I’ll also look at John Mousinho’s 4-2-3-1 system, whether Pompey are getting enough from their number nine, whether Bishop needs genuine competition for his place and whether Portsmouth should have signed another Championship-quality striker to challenge him.
