I think 'Poltergeist' is Tobe Hooper's sister film to 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre'. The past attacks American suburbia when spectral forces abduct a young girl. Steven Spielberg's influence is clear, but there's something at the heart of this film which is completely Hooper's.
