In November 1984, a plaque was unveiled in St. Mary's Cathedral to commemorate the Polish military emigration that occurred after World War II in Sheffield, marking the fortieth anniversary of their arrival. Today, none of the original members of that generation are still alive. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the plaque's installation.
