On April 28, 2025, at approximately 10:08 PM, a City of Melbourne Police officer responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance on Iowa Dr. The anonymous caller stated two shirtless males were screaming at each other in the street. Upon arrival, the officer observed an adult male and a co-defendant standing in the road shirtless, both with blood on their hands. The men initially claimed they were "Playing in the street," but the co-defendant later spontaneously uttered to a neighbor that he and the adult male had been fighting. The adult male was observed drinking an alcoholic beverage and fell to the ground, at which point the officer decided to place him under a Marchman act and in handcuffs. The adult male initially refused handcuffs, requiring the officer to physically pull his arm behind his back.
