LAPD released the video from Pro Basketball Player Tyler Honeycutt’s standoff with police on July 7. The player’s death was ruled a suicide by the coroner’s office.

The mother of Honeycutt called the police on July 7 2018 because his son was acting erratically.

Lisa Stazel told the police that his son had a gun in the house and he was worried that he would have pulled a gun out on himself.

“He’s hallucinating. I already called the mental hospital and they said if he becomes aggressive, which he just did, to call 911 and tell them that he has guns in the house. You need to hurry because I’m afraid he’s going to pull a gun out on himself.”

Lisa Stazel told the officers, when the arrive on the crime scene, that her son was a professional basketball player and that he spent six months “sucking laughing gas”. “I think it scrambled his brain,” she added.

The last part of the footage shows the officers receiving fire from the house.

Honeycutt played for UCLA in 2009-2011 and was drafted in Round 2 of the NBA Draft by the Sacramento Kings he played some 24 games with the kings but was assigned to the Reno Bighorns, the Kings D-League team. He was then traded to the Houston Rockets where he played for their D-League team the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Honeycutt then went on to play for several foreign teams including Ironi Nes Zioni, the Russian team Khimki and the Turkish Club Anadolu Efes.
