Evansville Police say the man who was killed in an officer involved shooting on east Louisiana Street this weekend was holding a fake gun in his hand during the incident.

Authorities held a press conference on Monday to show body camera footage from the shooting of Everett Nunn, who died at a hospital after an officer fired at him while responding to a 911 hang up on Saturday night. An officer arriving at the home reported that Nunn was holding what appeared to be a gun in his hand. The officer, gave a verbal command for Nunn before opening fire.

EPD Sgt. Anthony Aussieker says the item that Nunn was holding was a marijuana smoking device that was made to resemble a handgun. Aussieker confirmed two other people were detained in the home and escorted from the building while officers cleared the rest of the home.
