PoliceActivity | Police Chase Ensues After Florida Fugitive Flees Traffic Stop @PoliceActivity | Uploaded June 2024 | Updated October 2024, 5 days ago.

Jacksonville, Florida — On May 29, 2024, St. Johns County deputies stopped a vehicle driven by a female subject, 42-year-old Alexandria Mason, who had an active felony warrant out of Citrus County for failure to appear in reference to the Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. After the initial traffic stop near I95 and SR16, a DUI Unit deputy responded and began to investigate possible impairment. During the investigation, Mason refused to comply with commands, and fled in her vehicle driving recklessly on I95 northbound.
Deputies were assisted by the SJSO Aviation Unit and were joined by the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) as the pursuit approached Jacksonville. FHP Troopers successfully executed a Precision Immobilization Technique (PIT) maneuver near I95 and Atlantic Blvd which ended the pursuit and Mason was taken into custody. A citizen vehicle was impacted (no injuries) and a Trooper sustained significant hand injuries.
A stolen firearm, drug paraphernalia, and several controlled substances were located inside the vehicle. Mason was arrested by FHP and booked into the Duval County Jail. FHP charged Mason with Aggravated Fleeing and Attempting to Elude a Law Enforcement Officer, Armed Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and DUI with Property Damage. SJSO will be adding additional charges including DUI, Refusal to Comply with a Lawful Order, Resisting a Law Enforcement Officer, Reckless Driving, and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.
