Just before Rosa is able to reach the next town, she is stopped by Alder, who appears to take a keen interest in her as a Trainer. The wandering vagabond offers to give her some training, but in the next town, which so happens to be his home, he notices the girl holds two Town Maps, which prompts her to explain that the other one is for Hugh. As such, he decides to have her give the second Town Map to her friend before her training begins.
