Despite everything we have done in this series, I cannot think of too many other times where I was this... unhappy? playing the Pokémon TCG. There is just something about the way these decks play out that I absolutely despise. I would not call this a bad format in the same vein as the likes of Sword/Shield or Dark Explorers, but it does feel like your decisions matter less than at almost any point in recent history. Who cares that you don't have a viable board, just have Mew/Squawkabily/Fezendipity/Radiant Greninja down and you can literally ignore everything your opponent does! One of them get KO'd by a Boss? Who cares, just Night Stretcher it back and it's like your opponent's turn never happened!
Right now I am torn on whether or not to even play Stellar Crown because of this. The game has only gotten worse with its inclusion, and there really is only one new deck to think about. I will see how we feel after my VGC League Cup tomorrow, but this may just be the end of the series for the time being.
Anyhow, Matchups:
1) Palafin ex vs Gholdengo ex / Palkia VSTAR
2) Lugia VSTAR vs Ursaluna (non-ex) / Iron Valiant ex
3) Charizard ex / Pidgeot ex vs Roaring Moon ex
