Avery is the rival character in The Isle of Armor in Pokémon Shield.

He is first encountered by the player at Wedgehurst Station, obtaining the Armor Pass needed to visit the Isle of Armor. Before he can get on the train, a Galarian Slowpoke appeared, blocking the way, requiring the player to catch it.

After complimenting the player's capture of Galarian Slowpoke, he went on the train to the Isle of Armor.
