Before I proceed towards the Pokémon League, there are some optional challenges I can take on.
In Pokémon Red, Blue & Yellow, there is a trio of Legendary Pokémon known as the Legendary Birds. The ice bird, Articuno, is deep within the Seafoam Islands.
To reach Articuno, you'll not only need a Pokémon that knows Surf, but also a Pokémon that knows Strength... or you could just use one Pokémon that knows both, like what I did with my traded Dewgong, here.

In the lower parts of the Seaform Islands, some bodies of its water are moving as a fast current. So fast that you can use Surf in the water. If you fall into this water from a hole above it, you will then automatically go into a Surf, but then also automatically head towards either dry land or calmer water, depending on where you've dropped.
In particular, this gets kinda funky like in 8:39, where I am Surfing, but moving up towards those stairs just made me automatically Surf out from that room as if it was a high tide.
What you have to do to stop this nonsense is to go to a higher floor, find some boulders, and then use Strength to push them into the holes nearby. Two of them will be enough to lower the tide.

Once I've done this, Articuno was just a few square steps upwards to being met with!
Of course, it won't go down without a fight!
CAREFULLY lower its HP. If you accidentally make it faint, you're not gonna get another chance. Save your game (or prepare save states) before taking on a Legendary Pokémon so you can keep trying again if you overstep against it.
I first used my Pikachu to lower Articuno's HP, and then use Thunder Wave to immediately Paralyze it. It's Ice Beam hits hard, but my Dewgong can tank.
Bring LOTS of Ultra Balls with you, too. It seems like if your ball doesn't catch Articuno, it just won't even land a snag against it, either. You ball will just completely miss! I already experience this catching my glitched Mew way back in Part 10, but that Mew ended up still being an easier catch.
But eventually, I pull through, and then Articuno became MINE!

Now for the next of these Legendary Birds. Another one that's in a location you didn't even have to go through.
