The normal version of Giovanni's theme (otherwise known as the theme for when Ash goes against a Spearow) from Pokemon Puzzle League, remastered by michael02022 to a nice high CD Quality!
Being a childhood favorite of michael's, he had been wanting to work on this game for a long time. However, due to the way music is handled in this game, working on it was a major pain, until he decided to make his own tool! Yes, michael has created a tool that fixes the MIDI files from the game, into a form that's usable. If you're wondering why they needed to be fixed, michael has written up and technical explanation, explaining what was going on:
"Based on the MIDI conversions from N64MidiTool, the tool reconstructs the sequence, which make them readable for any person, because the music engine of the game is weird, and isn't like a normal music engine where you have a sequence for each channel with a instrument in mind, and the notes being literally the actual notes from the instrument. Instead, the tracks are more like "voices", and only plays samples, so, the notes are randomly distributed on every track, selecting constantly different voices, and transposes the notes depending of the pitch rote of the sample. So, the XML file works like a template where I specify which combos of MIDI patches are from the same instrument, and apply a transpose every midi note of that MIDI patch to the actual note of the instrument"
