Julian Talamantez Brolaski (it/its/itself) is a two-spirit, transgender poet of Mescalero and Lipan Apache, Latin@, and European heritages. It is the author of gowanus atropolis (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2011) and Of Mongrelitude (Wave Books 2017), a finalist for the 2018 Lambda Literary Award for Transgender Poetry. In its work, Brolaski examines two-spirit, transgender, and mixed-race identity, as well as issues of indigeneity and resistance. Experimenting with typography and formatting on the page, it is specifically interested in the interactions of race, gender, and grammar.
