Poetry in the Garden, held each spring, is a series of live performances is set among the Getty Center’s Central Garden. This year features poetic and musical collaborative soundscapes inspired by the publication "The Scores Project: Experimental Notation in Music, Art, Poetry and Dance 1950-1975," informed by mid-century experimental artists in the Getty Research Institute’s archives like Yvonne Rainer, John Cage, and Benjamin Patterson.

Sarah Yanni is a Mexican-Egyptian writer in California. Her work has been published in the Los Angeles Review of Books, Mizna, Pleiades, Nat Brut, and Wildness Journal, among others, and has been recognized as a contest Finalist by BOMB Magazine, Hayden's Ferry Review, Poetry Online, Kelsey Street Press, and Letras Latinas. She is the author of two chapbooks--Hard Crush (Wonder Press, 2024) and ternura / tenderness (Bottlecap Press, 2019)--and has received support from Tin House, Community of Writers, the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, and The REEF. She holds an MFA from CalArts.
Maral’s sonic palette incorporates a collage of Iranian Classical & Folk samples and explores genres of experimental electronic production such as noise, punk/post-punk, and dub. Maral has released two critically acclaimed records, Ground Groove (2022) and Push (2020) on Leaving Records. She has collaborated with artists such as Lee "Scratch" Perry, Panda Bear, Penny Rimbaud of Crass, Anika and more.
