The SNES game recently got a revision on RA, I hadn't done the set at all so now was a good time to try. I spent the first run trying to remember what to do, by the second run things went a lot smoother.
also played the GBA Pocky & Rocky With Becky, which is a much simpler game so there wasn't too much to the set either. I just like making jokes about the name.
so what about Pocky & Rocky 2? the set looked kinda miserable, and I didn't actually enjoy the game that much when I played it the first time. Not sure if I'll give it a shot in the future

Sega CD version was easy baby game, TG-16 version is definitely tougher. Did not get the clear on Super difficulty, enemies produce revenge bullets and its pretty nuts. I may come back to attempt that at some point in the future.")

Played this for the RetroAchievements Leaderboard of the Month for the first half of September 2026. I just wanted to put up a decent 1CC score, wasnt expecting to get a deathless run out of it!
Compared to the MVS version, the Neo-Geo CD (as well as AES) version is actually a longer playthrough. You see, each of the four worlds in this game has 3 areas that can be played through. In the MVS version, you only play through 2 of the 3 areas, but on the home versions you have to go through all 3 for each of the four worlds. When selecting a world in the MVS version, the first world you select will make you play areas 1 and 3, while every world after that will be 2 and 3. Since you have to do all three areas each time, this bumps the number of total stages up from 9 (4 * 2 + final stage) to 13 (4 * 3 + final stage)! And as you can see, this makes it take an hour if youre doing some score stuff here and there, plus visiting all the bonus stages.
Despite all my time playing this game (which is pretty much always the MVS version), I couldnt recall if Id ever gotten a no-miss run of this. Since this was rather unexpected, AND was done on the version that has 4 extra stages to play through, I figured this was worth highlighting and saving. The only asterisk I would attach to this was that it was played on Normal difficulty instead of the MVS default difficulty (MVS is Level-4, whereas Normal is usually Level-2 or Level-3). To be fair though, Ive never really noticed anything different gameplay wise outside of it MAYBE affecting how much damage you take? But it always seems to be around the same amounts anyway.")

Hadnt really played this game since I got the 1CC, was able to de-rust it a lot faster than I thought and got through the entire set at one night. My original 1CC was on the World version where the game is only 5 stages long, this version makes you do all 7 stages (i.e. your route choice doesnt matter on stages 2 and 4 because you end up having to play the other routes anyway), which pads the game out a little too much! Anyway I got a new 1CC on this version at 2:20:21, was going to make a highlight of that to add to the 1CCBBH collection as an alternate clear but Ill just leave it in this VOD for now I guess.")

Another console shmup Id never played before but wanted to check out. It was an interesting experience for sure, of course theres things you gotta learn through trial and error but thats par for the course with shmups. I didnt like how terrible some of the weapons felt, but difficulty-wise it was pretty manageable even on Hard once you learn how to get all the hidden 1-ups. And of course the cutscenes were entertaining.
Apparently the second game is a platformer... will I play it? Maybe, who knowssss")
