I was up early for once for a doctor's appointment. Right as I was scheduling my next appointment, I heard a magnificent P5 horn in the direction of Fitchburg Station. I thought it was a Berkshire and Eastern train but when I got there, PNLX 9619 was coupling up to three of the old Bombardier CTC-1B Cab Cars.
No idea where they're going. I'm assuming they're some of the last to be refurbished and repurposed for cab deactivation and service as blind trailer coaches. The other potential outcome is that they're going to be sold for scrap, or they're going to Mexico. A real curveball is that they're going to Philadelphia although this would be unlikely since SEPTA's already locked in the AMT Bombardier cars. Pros of these going to SEPTA is they wouldn't need to have the work done for two platform levels unlike the AMT cars.
