Update 2011-09-24: For what it's worth, I'm no longer entertaining the proposal in the video as presented originally (which is not to say I'm writing it off fully). If tax-choice is to have its day, it must undergo piecemeal style test-trials so analysts and statisticians can compare whatever good vs. bad results ensue. I don't see how anyone can completely dismiss even gradual approaches to tax-choice-styled allocations of public revenue, especially if you're a left-winger who frequently reminds people how awfully low approval ratings for congress are, or how many existing policies in the US don't track public opinion. It just doesn't follow to write-off this type of alternative after raising a fuss over populist concerns not being coddled by "gov't elites".

For those unfamiliar with it, tax-sovereignty = taxpayer-directed decision-making on which public goods get funding. So if I'm taxed $10.00 for a day's work, I fully decide (or at least have much leeway in deciding) which public good(s) get(s) subsidized with that money.
