Please Stop Hating On Game of Wool: My Thoughts So Far episodes 1-4
If you've been watching Game Of Wool on Channel 4, you’ll know it’s already stirred up a lot of conversation — and not all of it kind. After four episodes, I wanted to share a calmer, more grounded perspective on the show, the format, and why I think we need to give it a proper chance.
In this video, I dive into:
🧶 What actually makes the early episodes feel rushed
🧶 Why editing, timing, and TV format matter more than people realise
🧶 Misused knitting terminology (yes, I noticed too!) — and why it’s not the end of the world
🧶 How group challenges really work, and why they’re necessary
🧶 The difference between watching as a knitter vs. watching as a TV viewer
🧶 Why comparing it to Bake-Off or Sewing Bee isn’t as straightforward as it seems
🧶 The joy of seeing knitters of all ages, styles, and skill levels on TV at last
🧶 My favourite makes so far
At the heart of this episode is one message:
Let’s celebrate the fact that knitting is finally on television — and stop tearing the show apart before it’s even found its rhythm.
This is the first series. Every crafting competition finds its feet slowly. As I share in the video, I truly believe Episodes 4 onward already show promise, better pacing, and much deeper judging feedback.
Whether you’re loving Game Of Wool, unsure about it, or frustrated with how knitting is being portrayed, I hope this video offers a refreshing, balanced, and encouraging perspective.
