The red fish is always there, always circling back around time and time again. There is no way to control it at first as takes over mind and body. The pills are anything that can offer help, but can be intimating because of their side effects. The red vines and flowers are the effects of the pills, both helpful and hurtful, a mix of dependency and side effects of their own. But when used correctly, they help seize control of the red fish.

Extreme PMS is something I've dealt with for over a decade, manifesting in horrendous mood swings, unpredictable pain, and heightened depression. It sucks. Not only does it affect me, but it has been negatively affecting my relationships. Before taking medication, I've only had one week out of each month of complete normalcy. When I heard this song for the first time I immediately related the lyrics to this experience.
