Episode 116 of the Late Night Live Podcast
Welcome back to Late Night Live! 🎙️ Tonight, we're blending the worlds of virtual reality and literal space exploration. Grab your favorite late-night snack, settle in, and let's talk about the crazy future we are currently living in.
🕹️ Becoming the Game: PlayStation's "PlayerBase"
Have you ever wanted to literally be a video game character? Sony just dropped a massive announcement with their new PlayerBase project, and they are officially looking for real fans to scan into their biggest PlayStation Studios blockbusters!
• The Details: Sony is offering players the chance to go to a physical PlayStation Studio to have their faces 3D-scanned and integrated into massive PS5 titles like Ghost of Yōtei, Gran Turismo 7, and Helldivers 2.
• Our Take: Is this the ultimate gaming fan experience, or are we inching closer to a weird dystopian simulation? We debate the logistics, the selection process, and which game worlds we would actually want our digital clones to live in.
🚀 To the Moon and Back: The Artemis II Historic Lunar Flyby
We step away from the digital world to talk about the literal stars. NASA's Artemis II mission launched on April 1st, and the four astronauts aboard the Orion spacecraft have just made absolute history this week.
• Record Breakers: The crew successfully executed their lunar flyby and officially shattered the Apollo 13 record for the farthest distance humans have ever traveled from Earth (over 252,700 miles!).
• The Views: We discuss the incredible images beamed back to Earth, including an Earthset, an Earthrise, and a solar eclipse viewed from the far side of the Moon.
• What's Next: With the crew currently cruising back home for a scheduled ocean splashdown this Friday, April 10th, we break down what this monumental success means for the upcoming Artemis III lunar landing.
