Playing cards are made with a plastic coating. This saves them from your messy Friday night poker games so it can become your lucky deck. Magician's like the coating which makes them slick and much easier to manipulate for an audiences enjoyment.
But crafters, not so much. We can work all day to create an amazing work of art only to have it slump off. Argh!
What to do? Watch my experiment to see how the following react. Coatings: Vicki Bouton Gesso, Waverly Chalk Paint, Matte Mod Podge, Distress Ink, and FolkArt Mixed Media Transparent Acrylic Soft Gel Paint. Glues: Beacon Fabri-tac, Gorilla Glue Stick, Elmer's School Glue, Elmer's Craft Bond, Aleene's Fast Grab and generic purple glue stick.
