Cherrybrook is a beautiful exclusive suburb located to the north west of Sydney. A vicious playground arson attack at Kanangra Cres Park has me looking carefully at the Cherrybrook area. Hornsby Shire Council Facebook posted photos and made a statement about the fire damage. Locals also had plenty to say and I read some of their Facebook posts. Once I spoke to locals at Cherrybrook they pointed out to me other places where a firebug had been active. Apart from the fires in the parks I also see how widespread the graffiti and tagging is throughout the suburb. Cherrybrook has a dedicated spray art graffiti wall near the amazing skate park. There's 'CHURMANE' sticker slapping everywhere. And the spray art was extending to all sorts of other areas of the suburb. A underground pedestrian walkway next to The Lakes Of Cherrybrook has layers of historical graffiti art and tagging. For most people driving through Cherrybrook you would not see the graffiti, but if you were walking around the amazing duck ponds and bush trail reserve your going to see tags and spray art.
What I did not understand about the Kanangra Cres playground park fire was the motivation to do such vicious vandal attack. This park is absolutely stunning in many ways. But as the locals said to me this park attracts teen thugs at night who tag and smash bottles in the area. The ghost of removed tags could be seen on the parks bins. This park had lots of Dominoes Pizza shop litter and that was evidence of people who have no respect for the area. The Carmen Park damage on the large picnic table was incredibly sickening to see. It was interesting to hear how some locals linked the new Sydney Trains Metro station at Cherrybrook to the problems happening. But I think it's related to the nightmare year of 2020. The problems Cherrybrook is experiencing looks just the same as many other suburbs this year. I have done many videos on the problems in Berowra and Berowra Heights. But the Cherrybrook's park fire is on a totally different level of playground destruction. The repair bill is going to be massive.
